Protecting Minors
Scanterbury Casino is for adults only, and we put real effort into keeping it that way. This page covers our age checks, the steps parents can take at home and what we do if a minor gets through our checks.
19+ only
- Only players 19 or older can sign up, fund an account or play any game.
- This applies to every game: slots, live tables and instant wins.
- Demo modes are also restricted to adults.
- We direct our marketing at adults and never create it to attract children.
We serve players only in jurisdictions where the law permits it, and we follow Canadian requirements on age, identity checks and anti-money laundering.
How we check age
Age checks happen before money moves, not after.
- The sign-up form asks for your date of birth, and anyone younger than 19 cannot go further.
- We verify your age and identity electronically before you make a first deposit.
- Where that is not conclusive, we request photo ID before any deposit is accepted.
- Geolocation checks confirm you are in a permitted area.
- Checks are run again if there is any sign that another person is using an account.
See our Verification and AML page for the list of accepted documents.
Parental controls and filtering
Our verification keeps minors out, and controls at home give extra protection.
- Activate the built-in parental control features on computers, tablets, smartphones and game consoles.
- Use age classification settings in app stores to prevent gambling apps from being downloaded.
- Install filtering software to block gambling websites on every device on your home network.
- Check with your internet provider whether it offers filtering at network level.
- Create separate child profiles with their own restrictions.
If a minor is found
- The account is closed straight away.
- Any winnings are void.
- Deposited funds are refunded to the payment method used to make them, where legally permitted.
- The details involved are blocked, preventing anyone from using them to open another account.
- If an adult knowingly helped, their own account may also be closed.
If you think a child is using our site, email us and include every detail you have. Each report is acted on.
Shared devices
Family members often share phones, laptops and tablets. Some simple habits help stop young people reaching our site:
- Turn off your browser's password saving feature.
- Log out whenever you stop playing.
- Set a PIN, pattern or fingerprint lock on your device.
- Use a separate adult profile for gambling.
- Never hand over your device while logged in.
- Clear saved card details and site data from shared browsers. Our Cookie Policy explains what we store.
